Album review – MAJORLAZER

Popping into city discs on friday to attempt ( in vain ) to get a copy of Nosaj Thing’s Drift album, something stopped me in my tracks : the fine beats on the sound system. Both of the staff were nodding their heads as were a couple of other people in the shop.

I noticed 3 guys in succession buying the same vinyl. Something was going on.

I got to the counter and saw what the fuss was all about : MAJORLAZER. There was 2 copies left on CD. Had to have this.

Major Lazer is the jamaican man below, who appears to fight things like zombies and the like with his fancy reggae groove soundsystem.Major Lazer

It’s also the name for this collaborative project between Diplo and Switch. Recorded in Jamaica, it truly is excellent.

This cracking album blends up some reagge & dancehall, with parts of it being very reminiscent of  M.I.A. ( Hold the Line , in particular )

Short & Sweet, and lots of fun, bang it on at a party and you won’t be dissapointed !

Some champion vocalists on there, check out the tracklist :
